Redesigning Instructional Technology in My District

This page is dedicated to my graduate projects that directly impacted key components of our Instructional Technology plan in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District. I grouped these projects together on one page because they are interrelated and are among my largest professional accomplishments so far. Below are explanations of how I developed an action plan and used that plan to create two websites that will be used regularly by the Instructional Technology Services (ITS) Team in my district.

The ITS Action Plan

I developed an action plan that is currently being utilized in my practice. This Action Plan helped me bring a better vision and focus for how to make my department efficient and forward-thinking. Key components of this plan involve the following:

  • Improved Communication within the District

  • Personalized Training & Support for All Educators

  • Practical and Relevant Professional Development Creation

  • Improved Climate in the District

This plan was created as a part of a reflection for how I can use my knowledge about theories of learning to make an impact in my practice. Please click on the PDF icon below to view the plan.

Designing the ITS Websites

My ideas for this plan are taking shape. My ideas and templates for Instructional Technology Services (ITS) websites started as project ideas within my MAET classes. Each of the websites serve a different purpose:

One of the websites that I created/revamped was our district Technology Services website. I deleted all content from the website and redesigned it with the overall purpose of improving communication and providing quick links to resources and guides. Below is a screenshot of the website that is currently being built. You can also click on the image to see a live look at the page!

In addition, plans are also in the works to create a website that will be used as a hub for myself and the other Instructional Technology Specialist in my district. This project is being done collaboratively with Jason Murray, who is the Technology Director in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District. This website will serve the following purposes when it is created:

  • Allow Staff to Self-Monitor Professional Growth

  • Track Completed Professional Development

  • Track Personalized Instructional Time

  • Track Professional and Personal Goals of Teachers

  • Create a Leaderboard to Gamify Professional Development Offerings

This project was created by going through the steps of the Design Thinking process. More information about this project can be seen in my summarizing blog post.

Below is a preview of what the website will be able to do! My hope is that this program will be able to be an integral part of my daily practice:
