This page is dedicated to the courses that I completed as a part of my Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program through Michigan State University (MSU). Below I list my courses that I took in chronological order by the semester they were taken. Each course has listed its course number, course title, instructors, and a brief summary of my takeaways in the course. Enjoy learning about my journey through the MAET program. Tech Applications for the Classroom
Instructor: Dr. Lynn Hummel (Bloomsburg University)
In this course, I explored a variety of web 2.0 tools and applications that could be used to facilitate instruction. I learned how to evaluate the effectiveness of applications for their intended purpose and potential for innovative ideas. In addition, I planned lessons through the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework to showcase how technology tools would be used to meet curricular needs. Finally, I explored the global impact technology is making for students in various settings.

Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Instructors: Ron Houtman & Emily Stone
This course introduced me to foundational theories of learning and understanding. These theories helped me understand the differences in learning between beginners and experts in a field. I learned how to use the Technical Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) Framework to integrate technology into my practice. This framework is used to help educators and leaders make strong decisions when making decisions. In addition, this course provided me with the understanding of copyright and creative commons licensing.

Adapting Innovative Technology to Education
Instructors: Stacey Schuh & Melissa White
This was one of my favorite courses in the MAET program. The course is built on the idea of constructivism and repurposing the world around us. I built on knowledge and skills about learning to apply it to the use of innovative technologies. Through this course I explored a wide variety of tools including Raspberry Pi, SketchUp, Evernote, Zoom, and a plethora of tools that can be used to create infographics. This course inspired me to think of myself as more of a creator and take an active role in advocating for the Maker Movement that is currently taking place around the world.

Technology and Leadership
Instructors: Dr. Aman Yadav & Benjamin Gleason
In this course I analyzed the perspectives of different aspects of leadership and how they apply to technology, learning, and teaching. I learned about professional development techniques, project management, and evaluation through a variety of case studies and projects. I explored various types of leaders and the strengths/weaknesses that exist within each generalized type. This helped me to develop my own perspective of leadership and ultimately create vision for leadership with technology.

Applying Educational Technology to Practice
Instructor: Allison Keller
This course introduced me to issues that exist in education today. Several key issues are considered to be wicked problems, which are problems that are hard to define, let alone solve. I learned how technology can play a role in helping to solve these issues. My focus for my wicked problem was about the growing issue of keeping education relevant. This course also introduced me to Design Thinking and complex problem solving strategies. Ultimately, I built on my knowledge of leadership to refine my problem-solving abilities.

Learning in Schools & Other Settings
Instructor: Andy Saltarelli
This course built on my prior knowledge of learning to focus on psychological perspectives of learning. I explored a variety of social, behavioral, and cognitive learning theories and their implications for research and practice. This reinforced my perspective that learning should be the foundation of every educational decision. I believe that I now have a better understanding of how students and adults learn in a variety of settings. As a result of this course, I have developed my own theory and vision of learning.

Learning Technology Through Design
Instructors: Dr. Aman Yadav, Dianne Campbell, Cui Cheng, & Carmen Richardson
Through this course I explored the Design Thinking process in depth. I explored and practice each phase of the process and directly used this knowledge to impact my professional practice. This course changed my perspective of design by showcasing the similarities between designers, inventors, and educators. It inspired me to think of myself as a creative problem solver. After taking this course I feel empowered and reinvigorated to use my knowledge and problem-solving skills to make an impact by helping to solve complex issues.

Approaches to Educational Research
Instructors: Dr. E. David Wong, Cui Cheng, Ming Lei, June Westdel
In CEP 822, I took a deep look into the importance of educational research and learned how to use a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze data for research. Through a variety of activities and the completion of my research paper, I now have a full understanding of how to use research methods to improve my practice. In addition, I learned how to use features within Excel to organize and analyze data. I will continue to use my knowledge of research to improve my practice and evaluate the effectiveness of current and future trends in education.

Teaching Students Online
Instructors: Dr. Anne Heintz & Cui Cheng
This course provided me with insight for how to create strong online courses and learning environments. Through this course I compared learning management systems (LMS's) and evaluated the limitations of relying on synchronous and asynchronous tools and course formats. This course helped me to find applicable ways to improve online professional development courses in my own professional practice and how to support the efforts of educators to make continued improvements to their courses and blended learning environments.

Capstone in Educational Technology
Instructors: Dr. Matthew Koehler, Brittany Dillman, Spencer Greenhalgh, and Sarah Keenan-Lechel
In this course, I synthesized all of the information I learned throughout my journey in the MAET program. This course challenged me to think critically about how my perspective has changed and how I have grown as a leader. It also helped me organize my thoughts and knowledge that I learned throughout this very powerful program. I created my online portfolio and developed a future plan for learning to help me to achieve my future goals. I will continue to build on my portfolio and continue to use my website to maintain a positive online presence.
